Linen is one of the oldest textiles in the world and still one of the best. It softens light, lasts for decades and looks better with age.

It filters light beautifully

A sheer linen curtain doesn't block daylight, it diffuses it. Harsh sun turns into a soft, even glow, and the weave adds a quiet texture to the window. We use light linen of roughly 100 to 150 gsm for sheers.

It's tougher than it looks

Linen fibres are among the strongest of any natural textile, and they get softer with every wash. A good linen curtain or bedding set can last well over a decade.

Wrinkles are part of it

Linen creases, and that's the point. The relaxed, slightly rumpled look is what stops a room from feeling staged. If you want it crisp, choose a blend. If you want it honest, leave it.

Where we use it

  • Curtains: hung at twice the width of the window for soft folds.

  • Bedding: pre-washed linen, which is soft from the first night.

  • Cushions and throws: the easiest place to start.

  • Sofa covers: a heavier weave in a washable, loose cover.
